WHICH MATCHA SHOULD I CHOOSE?

VILKEN MATCHA SKA JAG VÄLJA?

Matcha varies in taste, quality grade, and uses – check out our different varieties to more easily choose which one suits you best!

SINGLE CULTIVAR

Single Cultivar Matcha is produced from tea leaves of a single tea cultivar, resulting in a more distinct and nuanced flavor profile where the specific cultivar's unique character can shine through. Just like with a vintage wine, the taste can vary between different harvests, with factors such as climate, harvest time, and shading playing a crucial role. Single cultivar matcha is therefore an excellent choice for those who want to deepen their experience and explore the full richness of matcha's flavor.

SINGLE CULTIVAR MATCHA – OKUMIDORI

Organic Ceremonial Grade Matcha from Wazuka made from 100% Okumidori cultivar of the highest quality from the 1st harvest. Soft, balanced, and elegant flavor profile characterized by a round and pleasant umami with natural sweetness and low bitterness. This makes it enjoyable to drink as a tea.

SINGLE CULTIVAR MATCHA – YABUKITA

Organic single origin Ceremonial Grade Matcha made from 100% Yabukita cultivar of the highest quality from Nara Prefecture. Made from shaded tea leaves from the 1st harvest with smooth sweetness, mild umami, and a bright green color. Single origin means that all raw material comes from the same tea farm where our Yabukita has been grown and produced by the same family for many generations. Matcha from Nara is characterized by more sweetness, a brighter green color, and an almost creamy character. This is due to the balance between sunlight, fog, and humidity from the mountains and rivers in northern Nara.

CEREMONIAL GRADE

There is no certification body for matcha, but we have chosen to grade our matcha as Ceremonial Grade and Latte Grade. Ceremonial Grade matchas are all shaded before harvest and made from tea leaves from the first harvest. They are suitable for all types of matcha drinks and have a beautiful green color.

UJI MATCHA – CEREMONIAL GRADE

This matcha is made from a carefully selected blend of different cultivars, to ensure it maintains the same flavor profile as much as possible. Just sweet enough, just astringent enough, and beautifully green. Suitable for both lattes and other matcha drinks.

LATTE GRADE

Latte Grade matcha is produced, just like Ceremonial Grade, from shaded tea leaves but from the second harvest. They usually have a slightly more astringent taste and a slightly darker green color. Thanks to its fuller and more robust flavor profile, it is particularly well suited for matcha lattes and baking where the taste continues to stand out even in combination with milk, sweetener, or other ingredients.

UJI MATCHA – LATTE GRADE

Organic matcha made from a carefully selected blend of different cultivars. It has a mild sweetness and an astringency that enhances the matcha character in lattes, smoothies, and baked goods.

MINT MATCHA – CEREMONIAL GRADE

Organic Ceremonial Grade matcha flavored with stone-ground dried mint leaves. Balanced freshness, umami, and astringency with a beautiful green color. Perfect in lattes, both hot and cold!

KUWA MATCHA – MULBERRY LEAF

Kuwa Matcha is made from mulberry leaves instead of tea leaves and is therefore naturally caffeine-free. Organic stone-ground herbal tea with a beautiful deep green color and silky smooth taste, prepared in exactly the same way as matcha.

HOJICHA – ROASTED

Organic hojicha differs from other green teas in that the leaves are roasted instead of steamed. This roasting process, which takes place at high temperatures, gives hojicha its characteristic brown color and a full-bodied, roasted, and nutty flavor with a soft sweetness. During roasting, the caffeine content is also reduced. Prepare it in the same way as matcha. Fantastic as a latte and also excellent to combine with flavors such as strawberry, ginger, or chocolate.
