WHICH MATCHA SHOULD I CHOOSE?

VILKEN MATCHA SKA JAG VÄLJA?

Matcha differs in taste, quality grade, and uses – see our different varieties to more easily choose which one suits you best!

SINGLE CULTIVAR

Single Cultivar Matcha is made from tea leaves of a single tea cultivar, which gives a more distinct and nuanced flavor profile where the unique character of the specific cultivar can emerge. Just like a vintage wine, the taste can vary between different harvests, where factors such as climate, harvest time, and shading play a crucial role. Single cultivar matcha is therefore an excellent choice for those who want to deepen their experience and explore the full flavor richness of matcha.

SINGLE CULTIVAR MATCHA – OKUMIDORI

SINGLE CULTIVAR MATCHA – YABUKITA

Organic single origin Ceremonial Grade Matcha from 100% Yabukita cultivar of the highest quality from Nara prefecture. Made from shaded tea leaves from the 1st harvest with smooth sweetness, mild umami, and bright green color. Single origin means that all raw material comes from the same tea farm where our Yabukita has been cultivated and produced by the same family for many generations. Matcha from Nara is characterized by more sweetness, a brighter green color, and an almost creamy character. This is thanks to the balance between sunlight, fog, and humidity from the mountains and rivers in northern Nara.

CEREMONIAL GRADE

There is no certifying body when it comes to matcha, but we have chosen to grade our matcha as Ceremonial Grade and Latte Grade. Ceremonial Grade are all shaded before harvest and made from tea leaves from the first harvest. They are suitable for all types of matcha drinks and have a beautiful green color.

UJI MATCHA – CEREMONIAL GRADE

This matcha is made from a carefully selected blend of different cultivars, to ensure that it maintains the same flavor profile as far as possible. Just sweet enough, just astringent enough, and beautifully green. Suitable for both lattes and other matcha drinks.

LATTE GRADE

Latte Grade matcha is made, just like Ceremonial Grade, from shaded tea leaves but from the second harvest. They usually have a slightly more astringent taste and a slightly darker green color. Thanks to its fuller and more robust flavor profile, it is particularly suitable for matcha lattes and baking, where the taste continues to stand out even in combination with milk, sweeteners, or other ingredients.

UJI MATCHA – LATTE GRADE

Organic matcha made from a carefully selected blend of different cultivars. It has a mild sweetness and an astringency that enhances the matcha character in lattes, smoothies, and baked goods.

FLAVORED, CAFFEINE-FREE & HOJICHA

In our assortment, you will also find flavored matcha, caffeine-free matcha, and hojicha – perfect alternatives for those who want to discover more nuances and variations.

YUZU MATCHA – CEREMONIAL GRADE

Organic Ceremonial Grade matcha flavored with stone-ground dried yuzu peel. Balanced acidity, umami, and astringency with a beautiful green color. Perfect for lattes, hot or cold, and refreshing bubbly matcha drinks!

MINT MATCHA – CEREMONIAL GRADE

Organic Ceremonial Grade matcha flavored with stone-ground dried mint leaves. Balanced freshness, umami, and astringency with a beautiful green color. Perfect for lattes, both hot and cold!

KUWA MATCHA – MULBERRY LEAVES

Kuwa Matcha is made from mulberry leaves instead of tea leaves and is therefore naturally caffeine-free. Organic stone-ground herbal tea with a beautiful deep green color and silky smooth taste, prepared in exactly the same way as matcha.

HOJICHA – ROASTED

Organic hojicha differs from other green teas as the leaves are roasted instead of steamed. This high-temperature roasting process gives hojicha its characteristic brown color and a full-bodied, roasted, and nutty flavor with a mellow sweetness. Additionally, the caffeine content is reduced during roasting. Prepare it the same way as matcha. Fantastic as a latte and also excellent to combine with flavors such as strawberry, ginger, or chocolate.
