Rice paper lamp designed by Rina Ono for Hayashi Kougei, which has been making traditional washi paper since 1949. The washi lamp is equipped with battery-operated LED technology that provides a soft, pleasant light and can be easily placed or hung wherever you want. Rice paper lamps known as "Andon" have been popular in Japan since the Edo period and were used both as indoor lighting and as shop signs. Their warm, subdued glow and simple, elegant shape have made them an enduring element of Japanese design tradition.
