Our licorice pastilles are an authentic Italian craft made from organic and naturally wild licorice root from Calabria in Southern Italy. The long roots are harvested and sun-dried. Then they are ground into a reddish-brown powder that is boiled in batches to a tough mass. The pulp is kneaded and pressed out into long shiny bars that are hung in special drying racks where the black licorice color appears in contact with the oxygen in the air.
