Reishi (Ling Zhi in Chinese) is also called Lackticka in Swedish and is a large mushroom with a glossy surface that grows in warm places in Asia. It is very rare in the wild, and all commercial mushrooms today are cultivated.
Reishi has been used for thousands of years in the Eastern tradition, and has been attributed many positive properties for both body and mind. Among other things, reishi mushrooms are thought to stimulate the immune system, which can help prevent certain infections, help manage fatigue and maintain heart health by controlling blood sugar and cholesterol levels, as well as being generally relaxing.
Due to its high content of vitamins, minerals, amino acids and other essential substances such as polysaccharides, in particular beta-glucans, triterpenes, sterols and adenosines, it is often referred to as a "superfood". These substances are important to achieve the possibility of the body's optimal function and effect. Reishi is also counted among the so-called adaptogenic plants, containing substances that are said to contribute to the body's ability to adapt to tough conditions and to counteract injuries.
Extensive studies are ongoing on Reishi and its actual properties, and further verification is needed to determine its actual and precise effects. Therefore, always consult a doctor before starting to use any supplement if you are pregnant, taking any other medication or have any illness.
