Take care of your matcha whisk!
The lifespan of a match whisk depends on several factors, including how often it is used and how well it is cared for. A quality matcha whisk will last on average several months up to a year or even longer with proper care. However, the bamboo blades of a whisk that is used regularly will straighten or break off. When the beater has lost its shape or is damaged, it is time to replace it. Handle the whisk carefully and it will last longer!
- Place the matcha whisk in a bowl of warm water before use to soften the bamboo straws. If the whisk is new, the bud in the center will open like a flower.
- Do not whisk too hard in the bottom of the matcha bowl as this will wear the whisk and the bamboo straws may come off.
- Always rinse the whisk in warm water and shake off excess water after use.
- Never use detergent or wash it in a dishwasher.
- Store the whisk in a matcha whisk stand to help it maintain its rounded shape and to allow water to drain off the whisk and reduce the risk of mold.
